​​​Meet Derek. He trained as a Statistician, and his work experience has had a strong consulting focus, providing expertise in a variety of areas ranging from developing advanced analytics and machine learning models to leading clients in the “Art of Possible”. Derek is also the founder of the Atlanta R Users Group.

Derek’s experience began with a Bachelors, Masters, and PhD (ABD) in Statistics with a focus in Financial Econometrics (Multivariate Time Series) and Applied Computational Statistics (Data Mining).

Derek’s work experience has covered a variety of areas consulting around and developing models for things like predicting fraud, lifetime value, market share, pump failure, failure to appear in court, drug adherence, opioid diversion, and likelihood of claims payment. These covered domains such as hospitality, telco, credit risk, and healthcare.

The last 5 years prior to coming to Life2 was in a variety of roles at Microsoft like Global Lead Data Scientist, Architect, and Industry Digital Strategist in Microsoft Engineering, Consulting Services, and Worldwide Commercial Business. The focus at Microsoft was always Data Science and Machine Learning, but the roles ranged from hands on model building to strategic leadership of digital transformations for large healthcare corporations.

Currently, Derek is the Chief Technology Officer at Life2, inc. where he is designing and putting advanced analytics and machine learning into production for healthcare clients.
