Five Tips To Avoid Hiring Mistakes

When you make a bad hire, it can have an adverse effect on your career and company. Following these 5 steps will help you make better decisions during your hiring process. 1. Pre-screen your candidates. Pre-screening can save you a lot of time and headaches. During the pre-screen, you can find out if their salary expectations are in line with the opportunity if they are a culture fit, and if they have the knowledge and experience needed for the position. 2. Don’t hire people just because you like them. The candidate should be a DNA match with your company, but hiring on personality alone can lead to some significant issues. You do not want to end up with a team that is fun to be around but does not produce results. 3. Don’t rely solely on interviews to make your decision. Candidates are going to tell you what they think you want to hear. Use additional methods to evaluate a candidate. 4. Add a working interview to the process. Bring the candidate in and ask them to perform tasks that are related to the job. 5. Do a deep dive into the candidate pool. Take the time to develop a complete market map of your industry for the position. #hiring #recruitment #recruiting
