COVID-19 has changed the world that we live in, and most interviews are virtual. Here are some tips to help you ace your next virtual interview. Before the interview, test your internet connection, computer, and camera. You don’t want to spend the first 10 minutes dealing with technical issues. Log in early to the meeting. Turn off or remove any possible distractions such as your phone. During the interview, make sure you smile and show your excitement through your body. Most experts say that 93% of communication is non-verbal. One of the benefits of a virtual interview is that you can have notes available. Use sticky notes, talk about your accomplishments, and how that translated to success at previous employers. Interviewing is a two-way road, have some questions ready about the company and culture to get a better feel for if the position is right for you. When ending the interview, assuming you are interested in the position, ask for the next steps. After the interview follow up with an email, or a handwritten note, thanking them for their time. Let them know that you are interested in the position and the value you can bring to the company. #virtualinterview #hiring #recruiting
